In celebration of its 125th Anniversary, The National Gallery of Canada Foundation hosted its first-ever national fundraising event on May 28, 2005. The Renaissance Ball was a spectacular black-tie gala evening that attracted Gallery supporters from across Canada, including a distinguished group of leaders from the arts, government and business. The Renaissance Ball took its inspiration from the Gallery’s major summer exhibition of Renaissance art, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and the Renaissance in Florence. As such, guests were treated to an enchanted evening from the age of Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci, complete with Italian epicurean delights, madrigals and operatic arias, jesters, mimes and magicians.
As part of the project team coordinating the event, MJC was involved in every aspect of the event with a special focus on creating the Renaissance pageantry to entertain the guests.
