FIRST LIGHT: TUSCANY AND THE DAWN OF THE RENAISSANCE is a 4-part documentary television series, produced by Red Canoe Productions for Vision TV which examines the dawn of modern civilization and modern art that occurred in Tuscany between 1200 and 1350, some 200 years before the time of Leonardo and Michelangelo. It explores how and why the people and events of the time forever changed Western art, city planning, economics, science, religion and governance. First Light places art in the new civic context and in the new culture of the period and demonstrates that this extraordinary moment in Western history established patterns, and identified problems that remain part of the modern urban experience. The series was filmed in the glorious landscape of Tuscany and Umbria, in Siena, Florence and Assisi with the world’s foremost scholars of the period.

MJC was responsible for logistics and coordination of the film shoot in Italy.
